how much boost do you run? Like any turbo car, it all depends on the turbos and your fuel system. Stock turbos peak efficiency at about 15psi, so it's recommended to not go over that. Stock injectors too(370cc) max out at about 16.5 psi on stock turbos, so it is still recommended to not go over 15psi. On average, a stock turbo Z at 15psi with supporting mods should put down 340-370rwhp with more torque.is it reliable? If the person before you has taken care of it correctly, and you do too, than yes it's a very reliable. At the same time, they are also old cars, so chances of having some basic wear issues can be high(leaks, bad turbos,..etc). If compression checks out, turbos don't smoke, you perform regular maintinance, don't overboost, than you should have no problems. Is it expensive to mod it? I would say yes, but it depends on how far you want to go with it. Take a look at Concept Z. This site should give you a good idea at what good upgraded parts cost. The main draw back is having to almost buy 2 of everything(exhaust,intercoolers,turbo,intake,bov...) are they fun to drive? Extremely :) are there certain reliability mods? Nothing that I consider a mod really, just scheduled maintinance, oem parts, good oil(synthetic) and good filters. how often engines blow? Depends on how they are taken care of. People have well over 200k on stock motors and turbos. At the same time, I can also easily go for a drive, crank up the boost, lean out and blow within a few miles. There is no definite answer for that. I can say that they are not like a rx7 rotoray, in which people say have to be rebuilt every 60k or so Rx-7s are real nice looking cars and very rare, but so is the Z(well not too rare). The Z's are a bit heavy too, and won't be as agile as the rx7, but our motors make some nice torque, so it isn't too bad :). I'd recommend a Z to almost anyone.
